What Is Disney Vacation Club?
Disney Vacation Club is a type of timeshare where you use points to pay for a vacation at one of 13 DVC resorts located in Florida, Hawaii, and California. Each week in these resorts has a point value depending on its desirability, apartment size, and dates.
Your points renew every year, and you can save (or bank) any points you have left over for future use. You can also borrow points from next year to use toward this year’s vacations.
To become a Disney Vacation Club member, you must buy a minimum of 100 points and select a home resort to go along with them.
You get preferential bookings at your home resort, but you can buy additional points at any resort later on.
What Does Disney Vacation Club Cost?
Currently, DVC has sold out all their resorts except for Aulani, Copper Creek, Riviera, and Grand Floridian. All these resorts have a 150-point minimum restriction for new members, and they’re priced as follows:
- Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas: $217 per point
- Copper Creek Villas & Cabins: $250 per point
- Disney’s Riviera Resort: $217 per point
- Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: $217 per point
That means you’ll pay between $32,550 and $37,500 for your Disney Vacation Club membership. You’ll also need to pay a minimum closing cost of $390, which varies depending on your home resort.
Disney does offer financing, so you can pay off your membership over ten years. Apart from your initial purchase price, you must pay annual dues every year, which go toward the upkeep of your home resort.
These fees amount to $92 per month or more.

Is There a Cheaper Way to Join the Disney Vacation Club?
You’re allowed to sell your Disney Vacation Club points if you don’t want them anymore, but you’ll get a lot less for them than you paid for them. The current resale rate is just $119 to $127 per point.
Fortunately, you can also buy a DVC membership this way, although you’ll lose out on a few membership benefits if you do.

Is the Disney Vacation Club Worth It?
